The TN34 Unisex Parka Coat, Merchant & Mills Patterns Sewing Pattern

The TN34 Parka by Merchant & Mills is a relaxed, versatile take on the classic fishtail parka. Designed as a unisex style, it can be made lined or unlined, with a choice of hood or ribbed neckline, giving you plenty of options for creating a jacket to suit different seasons.

This newly redrafted version is part of the Merchant & Mills unisex size range and now includes the hood within the main pattern, so there is no need to purchase a separate hood pattern. It replaces the discontinued TN31 Parka pattern.

Choose a structured fabric to make the most of the parka's distinctive shape. Dry oilskin is particularly well suited, while cotton drill, canvas and waterproofed cottons or linens are also great options. For the lined version, woollens, tweed and regular oilskin can also be used.

For the lining, choose a fabric such as brushed cotton, cotton poplin or a medium-weight viscose or acetate lining.

Suggested Fabrics:

Dry oilskin, oilskin (lined version only), tweed, woollens, cotton drill, cotton canvas, waterproofed cotton and linen.

A small amount of lining fabric is required for the pockets and drawstring casing.

*For sizes 10–18 using 120cm wide fabric, the drawstring casing will not fit across the width. To use less lining fabric, add a seam at the centre back of the casing.

• 6 buttons, approximately 17–22mm (7 buttons for the hooded version)
• 3.2m drawstring cord for the version without a hood
• 4.4m drawstring cord for the hooded version
• 15cm ribbing for the version without a hood
• 1.2m fusible interfacing (not required when using oilskin)
• Matching thread
