Charming vintage Scandinavian modernist butterfly pendant by Swedish designer Rune Tennesmed, dating to approximately the 1960s.

Crafted in pewter, the stylized butterfly features beautifully simplified geometric wings with pierced heart-like openings and small circular cutouts. Darkened recessed areas provide striking contrast against the softly textured pewter surface, emphasizing the sculptural shape and giving the design wonderful depth and dimension.

The pendant is a wonderful example of mid-century Scandinavian design: playful and organic, yet clean and distinctly modern. Its compact size makes it substantial enough to be noticed while remaining extremely wearable.

I have paired the original Rune Tennesmed pendant with an 18-inch 925 sterling silver chain, creating a complete necklace that sits beautifully at the neckline.

The reverse is signed R TENNESMED SWEDEN.
