A bold and highly sculptural sterling silver brooch from Taxco, Mexico, dating to approximately the 1980s. Measuring nearly five inches long, this dramatic piece is designed as an elongated lightning-bolt form with crisp angular turns and a sleek, minimalist silhouette.
The exaggerated scale gives the brooch tremendous visual impact, while the polished sterling surface keeps the design refined and modern rather than theatrical. Its strong linear geometry feels distinctly late-20th-century, with a graphic, almost architectural quality that makes it especially striking against dark fabrics.
Marked 925, FG-137, Mexico, the brooch is a wonderful example of Mexican modernist jewelry from the period, combining the sculptural tradition of Taxco silverwork with the sharper, more graphic design language of the 1980s.
The piece has recently been professionally polished and presents beautifully, with a bright reflective finish. Any dark lines or unusual marks visible in the photographs are reflections from the polished silver surface rather than condition issues.
For added versatility, a converter is included so the brooch may also be worn as a pendant.
A superb statement piece for collectors of Taxco silver, Mexican modernist jewelry, 1980s design, and oversized wearable art—dramatic, clean, and unmistakably eye-catching.
